Review: Spark Sequencing Cards for SLPs

Be sure to read all the way to the end to see how you can save 10% on your order!

What are Spark Sequencing Cards?

Spark Sequencing Cards are created by speech-language pathologist Lea Schwed. They are a comprehensive set of engaging sequencing cards that are actually designed to target a multitude of language goals.

What Can I Target with Spark Sequencing Cards?

The Spark Sequencing Cards are explicitly designed to target storytelling, predicting, problem-solving, verbs, pronouns, sentence structure, inferencing, and reasoning skills... but trust me when I say you can target almost any language goal with these cards! You could even use them for articulation (answering structured questions, production within storytelling/story retell), use of fluency strategies during structured tasks or unstructured conversation, or for targeting social language within scenarios.

What Do Spark Sequencing Cards Include?

Each box comes with:
  • User guide card to give you the rundown on how to use the cards in therapy
  • 8 sets of sequencing cards (6 cards per set for a total of 48 cards)
  • One guide card per set of sequencing cards (total of 8) with relevant questions
  • Colored dividers and color-coded sets so you can easily keep the correct cards together

Who Can Use Spark Sequencing Cards?

Spark Sequencing Cards are great for SLPs, special education teachers, general education teachers, and parents! The instructions on how to use the cards are very clear and can easily be interpreted by anyone hoping to use them with their students and/or children.

I work with primarily 3rd to 8th graders, so I use Spark Sequencing Cards - Set 1 and Spark Sequencing Cards - Set 2, as I find these are best for this age group.

If you work with younger students, you may prefer the Spark Sequencing Cards - Junior set. This set has 4-step sequences instead of 6-step.

What Are My Favorite Parts of Spark Sequencing Cards?

  • They are made of a thick, durable material that will not easily bend! This makes them easier to handle and also keeps them in good shape for longer, even with frequent use.
  • Each set of picture scenes includes a page with questions to be used with that particular sequencing activity! This keeps you, the SLP, from having to think of your own questions on the spot. That's done for you!
  • The pictures are large, in color, and are able to keep my students' interests.
  • Each set contains 8 sets of sequencing cards- and you can make one set last a whole session!
