As a lifelong learner, you are eager to get your hands on the latest research there is to find! You're the SLP that cringes when they hear about other SLPs using out of date practices (and may have you take a few deep breaths) BUT you're willing to go the extra mile to (nicely) inform others that there's a better way!

You likely hold high expectations for your fellow SLPs, and you're often the first to try a new technique and share it with your co-workers! There's a strong chance you've held on to at least SOME of your grad school textbooks, and may even reference them from time to time. After all, some strategies remain the same.

Regardless of HOW you get your information, the most important thing is that you are interested in keeping up with EBP. This shows how much you care about providing the highest quality treatment possible to your client... and that's something to be proud of!

Here are some resources that may interest you as a lifelong learner:

  • The Informed SLP is a website dedicated to giving you bite sized research that will lead you in the right direction, even when you don't have much time.
  • SpeechPathology.com is a website that gives you access to unlimited CEUs for only $99/year. However, if you sign up using the affiliate code KAYLASLP, you'll get a free bonus month added to your subscription (so you'll get 13 months for $99). Find my review here! I spy an ACE Award in your future!
  • Speaking of ACE Awards... do you know about them? When you get 7.0+ CEUs in a 36 month interval, you are recognized by ASHA as a recipient of the ACE Award! This looks really good on a resume, by the way.
  • The SLPs for Evidence Based Practice is a great Facebook group where inquiring minds gather to brainstorm best practices and work through tough scenarios.
  • Prepare to have your minds blown with this one... have you accessed ASHA's Evidence Maps?! These are a great way to access high quality research papers, organized by topic.
  • I've compiled a list of lifelong learner SLP must-haves on my Amazon page. Be sure to check out what highly recommended goodies await you and your students!
Be sure to check out these resources because I have no doubt they're exactly what you're looking for. Keep on learning, friend!
